چکیده

The current generation of IP, version 4 (IPv4), has been in use for more than 20 years since its inception in 1980 and has supported the Internet's rapid growth during that time. IPv4 has proven to be robust, easily implemented and interoperable. This is a tribute to its initial design. However, the current Internet has grown much bigger than was anticipated. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has developed a suite of protocols and standards known as IP version 6 (IPv6). IPv6, the next generation Internet protocol, has been seen as the best solution for the problems that current Internet protocol faced. In this paper, key enhanced features of IPv6, including IPv6 addressing, Quality of Service (QoS), IP Security (IPSec), Mobile 1Pv6, possible transition scenarios and mechanisms, as well as the IPv6 deployment situations are summarized. This paper deals with IPV6 security improvements .Also security comparison to IPV4 protocol is made.

Testing IPv6 Security

IPv4 has been in use for several years now, living far beyond any reasonably expected lifetime. Even with various enhancements that have been made available over the years, it has proven time and time again that it is incapable of standing up to any real security threat. IPv6 was designed specifically to overcome the known shortcomings of IPv4, but acceptance within the marketplace has been ext...

Transient Addressing for Related Processes: Improved Firewalling by Using IPV6 and Multiple Addresses per Host

Traditionally, hosts have tended to assign relatively few network addresses to an interface for extended periods. Encouraged by the new abundance of addressing possibilities provided by IPv6, we propose a new method, called Transient Addressing for Related Processes (TARP), whereby hosts temporarily employ and subsequently discard IPv6 addresses in servicing a client host’s network requests. Th...

Security Considerations for Intrinsic Monitoring within IPv6 Networks

Intrinsic Monitoring is a method of collecting and disseminating node specific monitoring data throughout an IPv6 network by using the IPv6 extension headers as a carrier medium. The advantages of such a monitoring mechanism can be invaluable to a network operator, offering a wide range of performance and accuracy enhancements over traditional SNMP based or active probing based approaches. This...

An Unified Multiplex Communication Architecture for Simple Security Enhancements in IPv6 Communications

Current IP communication style is not optimized and has various problems. Sufficient security considerations (including privacy protection) are not provided. Despite the “well-known port” method being known to be inappropriate from security standpoint, it continues to be used it. The conventional belief that one node owns one IP address and communication sessions are basically multiplexed at th...

Security Holes in Contrast to the New Features Emerging in the Next Generation Protocol

The next generation protocol (Ipv6) also called Iping, which should replace the current generation of Internet protocol (Ipv4), brings many enhancements over Ipv4. Ipv4 has been a great success for more than 20 years, since its interception in 1980 but due to limited address space, complex configuration and very important lack of security it does not fulfil the requirement of the exponentially ...
